Border Cottage was built sometime during the second half of the 16th century, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and so is one of the oldest houses in Petersfield. It is a particularly attractive whitewashed timber-framed house.
The original box-frame timber construction is still partly visible in the oldest part of the house which is now the dining room and the upstairs landing. The guest room is part of the more 'recent' extension built in the 17th century
